Amit Malviya questions Rahul’s temple visit after being trolled for ‘scientific’ aarti tweet

BJP leader wonders whether temple run is due to poll compulsion after minority politics failed to deliver results. Earlier, he & Smriti Irani mocked Rahul over his visit to Ujjain.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell head Amit Malviya again shared another video questioning Rahul Gandhi’s “Hinduness” despite being roundly criticised for his previous attack on the Congress leader for performing aarti ‘anti-clockwise’ at the Ujjain Shiva temple.

“Why is the Congress in such tearing hurry to prove that the son of a Catholic mother and a Parsi father is a Hindu? Is it because of electoral compulsion in a Hindu majority India, where Congress’s politics of minorityism has ceased to deliver dividends?” he tweeted Sunday.

During the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Ujjain, Rahul had visited the famous Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple and performed the Ma Narmada Aarti. He was seen donning a traditional attire, which included a red headgear and a yellow dupatta with ‘Om’ written all over it.

Earlier, Union Minister Smriti Irani, too, shared an inverted image of Rahul commenting ‘now its okay’, implying that the ‘Om’ printed on his shawl was upside-down.

Reacting to Irani’s tweet, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi accused the Union Minister of mocking Hindu rituals, adding that Irani was trying to outdo Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to retain the “Troll Tiara”.

“Have to outdo the Assam CM since Troll Tiara is being snatched away, so in an attempt to troll, lets mock Hindu rituals to retain the title and the Tiara,” she tweeted, referring to Sarma who had recently compared Rahul’s bearded look to Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussain.

Clockwise, or anti-clockwise?

Malviya earlier shared a short clip of Rahul performing the aarti, claiming that he was performing it the wrong direction anti-clockwise, and that the scientific way to do it is clockwise because the earth moves clockwise.

If only “chunavi Hindu” Rahul Gandhi knew that aarti is done clockwise and there is a scientific reason for it (earth moves in clockwise direction and hence environmental frequencies are in sync with movement), he would not be making a spectacle of himself in public like this…” Malviya tweeted.

Soon, fact checkers and Congress leaders shared videos of PM Narendra Modi performing the aarti in a similar way.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate shared a video of PM Modi and tagged both Malviya and Irani seeking their response In another tweet, she further added that Rahul had indeed performed the aarti in clockwise direction, but due to lateral inversion, it appeared anti-clockwise.

This is not the first time that the BJP has attacked the Congress first family for indulging in Hindu rituals, terming them as a political strategy to woo voters. Way back in 2018, when the Congress called Rahuli a ‘Janeudhari Hindu’, the BJP asked what his gotra (lineage) was.
