In today’s featured cartoon, E. P. Unny makes a pointed observation about how Varanasi’s Gyanvapi and Mathura’s Shahi Idgah mosques have become the subjects of a national debate at a time when the common man is plagued by soaring cooking oil and LPG prices.

While edible oil prices in India have reportedly increased by over 30 per cent in the last one year, LPG prices rose by Rs 3.50 Thursday, the second hike this month, taking LPG cylinder prices across the country over the Rs 1,000-mark.

R Prasad | Twitter/@rprasad66 | The Economic Times

Referring to a Mathura court entertaining a plea by the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust claiming ownership of the Shahi Idgah mosque, R. Prasad takes a swipe at how India exhibits robust “divine rights indicators” while ranking 119 of 165 on the Human Freedom Index in 2021.

Sandeep Adhwaryu draws Sonia Gandhi explaining the Places of Worship Act to Rahul, in a dig at the Congress’ current situation as it faces a number of desertions. Over the last few days, leaders including party veteran Sunil Jakhar and Hardik Patel have exited the Congress, at a time when it is already in a beleaguered state after a humiliating defeat in the assembly polls held earlier this year.
