The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

In this week’s featured cartoon, Adam Zyglis uses actor Will Smith’s slap to comedian Chris Rock at the Academy Awards last weekend to draw a parallel to Russia, Ukraine and their peace talks.

Osvaldo Gutiérrez Gómez | The Cartoon Movement

Cuban cartoonist Osvaldo Gutierrez Gomez also weighs on the controversial slap at the Oscars, and explains why it sets a terrible example for children.

Christian Adams | Evening Standard

Christian Adams mocks Russian President Vladimir Putin for shooting himself in the foot, after the White House said that Putin is being “misled” by his advisers about the performance of Russian military in Ukraine.

Dave Brown | The Independent

Dave Brown alludes to Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte’s 1929 work ‘The Treachery of Images’, on which the artist wrote “Ceci n’est pas une pipe“, which is French for “this is not a pipe”. Brown comments on Putin’s order to halt Russian gas supply unless foreign buyers pay for it in roubles, by saying “this is not a pipe of peace”.

Bob Moran | Twitter/@bobscartoons

As more human rights organisations come in aid of displaced Ukrainian children since the Russian invasion, Bob Moran highlights the plight of Yemeni children who reel under grave humanitarian crisis since the war broke out in 2014. At least 10,200 Yemeni children have been “killed or maimed” since the war began.
