The best cartoons of the day, chosen by editors at ThePrint.

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

Satish Acharya’s cartoon is a dig at the power games being played out between the JD(S)-Congress chief ministerial candidate Kumaraswamy and BJP’s B.S.Yeddyurappa. It appears to have even surprised even the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s AB de Villiers who took a blinder at the boundary line in the IPL.

The next cartoon by Manjul for the Firstpost points out the helplessness B.S.Yeddyurappa and BJP duo of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are going through since the Supreme Court has preponed the floor test to take place in 24 hours rather than 15 days. On the other hand, Karnataka Congress leader Siddaramaiah is ensuring the BJP is unable to poach his ministers.

For the Times of India, Sandeep Adhwaryu’s cartoon shows that the Karnataka fiasco has set the people’s mandate up into the flames and has made a mockery of a functioning democracy.

The last one by Brainded India takes a dig at the ethics (or the absence of it) involved in today’s politics. The ‘horse-trading’ as some quote might be an art form but it never can be excuse for compromising on the ideals of democracy.
