The best Indian cartoons of the day, chosen by editors at ThePrint.

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online or on social media and are credited appropriately.

Cartoons this Sunday sum up the major political happenings of the week. In the lead cartoon, Satish Acharya in Mail Today shows the anti-climactic conclusion of Arvind Kejriwal’s targeted campaign against SAD’s Bikram Singh Majithia during the Punjab elections last year. Kejriwal had gone as far as to call him a ‘drug lord.’ However, all came to naught when Kejriwal recently issued an unconditional apology to Majithia, leading to an open revolt in AAP’s Punjab unit.

E P Unny in the Indian Express brings our notice to a resurgence of regional parties and people’s movements in the national media. Using the Kisan Long March, SP-BSP win in UP, and the TDP quitting the NDA government as examples, Unny indicates that the tide seems to be changing.

Irfan pokes fun at Rahul Gandhi’s official name-change on Twitter from @OfficeofRG to @RahulGandhi. Modi peaks in through a window to remind him of the number of trolls he has, which was declared to be the most in the country at 69% by a Twitter audit recently.

Manjul in First Post ridicules Congress’ resolution to switch back to ballot papers from EVM for elections. The cartoon compares Rajiv Gandhi’s statue marching towards technological progress, with Rahul Gandhi marching in the opposite direction.

Alok Nirantar’s comic in Sakal Media depicts Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu complaining that the PM doesn’t pay the state any attention. Amit Shah replies that to get one of Modi’s famous hugs you have to be a foreign leader.

Finally, Irfan on Twitter combines the news of absconding scam-sters like Nirav Modi with the recent World Happiness Report in which India fell to the 122nd spot out of 155 countries. The comic says that India’s unhappiness is expected, since all the happy people have fled the country (with money in hand).
