New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government has adopted several precautionary steps to thwart any unrest among people next month when the festivals of Eid and Akshay Tritiya may fall on the same day.
This assumes significance after the recent violence in several states, including capital New Delhi, on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office tweeted late last night that no religious procession would be allowed without proper permission. “All organisers must submit an affidavit ensuring peace and harmony and then only would permission be given. Only traditional religious festivities would be allowed and no permission given to new events,” the statement said.
कोई शोभायात्रा/धार्मिक जुलूस बिना विधिवत अनुमति के न निकाली जाए। अनुमति से पूर्व आयोजक से शांति-सौहार्द कायम रखने के संबंध में शपथ पत्र लिया जाए।

The government also said those using microphones should ensure that the volume did not disturb anyone. Religious festivals should also not block road or traffic, the statement read.
The government on Monday had cancelled the leaves of all police and administrative officers till May 4.
He also directed officials from police stations to ADG level to hold dialogues with religious leaders and eminent personalities within the next 24 hours to ensure peace during the upcoming festivals, and said mikes could be used at religious places but no new permission of their installation would be given, news agency PTI reported.
