Dehradun, May 23 (PTI) A documentary titled ‘Uttarakhandiyat Ki Ore’ (Towards Uttarakhandiyat), based on the political life of former Uttarakhand chief minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat, was released on Saturday.

The documentary was jointly launched by the state’s former chief minister and former governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari; state Congress president Ganesh Godiyal, former president of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal Kashi Singh Airy and saint Haribol Chaitanya Maharaj.

The documentary chronicles Rawat’s entire political journey – from his beginnings in village-level politics to his rise as a chief minister and Union minister. It highlights his early struggles, his decision to contest the block chief election with limited resources, his entry into Parliament in the 1980s after defeating senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, and his active involvement in the Youth Congress, Seva Dal and trade union movements.

Speaking on the occasion, Godiyal remarked that Rawat’s life journey serves as a source of inspiration for the new generation and that the state should benefit from his vast experience, struggles and unwavering dedication to Uttarakhand.

Expressing his gratitude to the large number of leaders, Congress MLAs and supporters who gathered for the documentary’s release, Rawat said this affection, trust, and sense of belonging constitute the greatest assets of his public life. PTI DPT MNK MNK
