New Delhi: A 25-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao allegedly raped an 18-year-old woman, an IAS aspirant, after taking a ‘sex pill’ and left her bleeding to death.

The accused, identified as Raj Gautam, is an MA student and resident of Unnao. He was arrested Sunday.

During interrogation, Gautam confessed to have taken the pills before meeting the girl and said he could not “control himself”. According to the postmortem report, the victim died of “shock and haemorrhage”, police sources told ThePrint.

Speaking to ThePrint, Superintendent of Police, Unnao, Siddharth Shankar Meena, said, “The teenager was alone at home when Gautam reached the house and before coming he took an energy pill. He then forced himself on her and raped her. During interrogation, he said that he took a high dose of the pill and could not control himself despite the girl’s resistance. He said that when she started bleeding from her private parts and fainted, he got scared and fled from the spot.”

“We have registered a case of murder and rape against the accused and have arrested him,” Meena added.

The matter came to light on 10 November when the victim’s father, a teacher, saw her body on returning home and approached the police.

In his complaint to the police, a copy of which is with ThePrint, the father wrote, “On 10 November, I had gone to teach, my wife went to the health centre where she works, my elder daughter was alone at home. When my two other children returned home from their school, they saw that the door was ajar and their sister was lying naked inside, bleeding from her private parts. She was also bleeding from her head.”

‘She loved Maths, promised to crack UPSC’

Speaking to ThePrint, the victim’s father said that she was preparing for the civil services exam and had also enrolled for training classes at BYJU’s. She scored a first division in her Class 12 and was “very good at Maths, Physics and Chemistry”, her father added.

“We always saw her studying. She worked so hard. She promised that she would crack the civil services and we were confident about it. That is why we did not think twice before paying the fee for her civil services exam training,” he said.

“I could not believe my eyes when I saw her body in that condition. I am numb. We do not know this man, no one has ever seen him. My younger daughter called me when she saw the naked body. We called the ambulance but it was too late by then. Why would this man be such a demon?” he asked.

WhatsApp chats, CDR recovered

According to sources in the Unnao police, the woman knew Gautam and the two came in touch with each other via social media. The police have recovered call detail records and some chats from the victim’s phone.

“The man had found out she would be alone at home that day and went to her house with the intention to rape her. Which is why he also took that pill. During interrogation, he kept repeating that he could not control himself as he was under the influence of the pill,” a UP police source said.
