Lucknow, Jul 16 (UP) The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated action against three officials for indiscipline, negligence and rule violations, an official statement said on Wednesday.

The action by the Urban Development Department comprises disciplinary proceedings against Shahjahanpur Nagar Panchayat President Munra Begum for protocol violations, Muzaffarnagar Tax Assessment Officer (Nagar Palika Parishad) Dinesh Kumar for misconduct, and Amit Kumar Singh, deputy municipal commissioner of Aligarh Municipal Corporation, for negligence.

Urban Development Department Principal Secretary Amrit Abhijat has issued instructions in this regard following the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Begum is facing action for violating rules by allegedly skipping 14 board meetings between February 2024 and April 2025, citing health reasons.

Instead of attending in person, she allegedly allowed someone else to represent her via audio call, which is not permitted under the Municipal Act of 1916.

After a chief development officer-led inquiry, a show-cause notice has been issued to Begum, and action has been recommended as per rules, the statement said. In Muzaffarnagar, a departmental inquiry has been initiated against Dinesh Kumar to probe allegations of misbehaving with senior officers, disobeying official orders, halting public works and misconduct with female subordinates. The Saharanpur division’s additional commissioner (administration) has been appointed as the investigating officer, the statement said.

Similarly, the Aligarh division’s additional commissioner (administration) will conduct an inquiry against Amit Kumar Singh of Aligarh Municipal Corporation for allegedly being absent without permission and neglecting responsibilities related to property tax collection, among others.
