Nagpur, Jul 18 (PTI) Two women farm labourers died in a lightning strike amid heavy rains in Nagpur on Friday, an official said.

Five others suffered burn injuries and have been hospitalised, he added.

The incident took place around 2pm in Soneghat village in Ramtek, some 60 kilometres from the district headquarters, he said.

“A group of 25 women was having lunch under a plum tree during a break from sowing paddy when lightning struck, killing Mangalabai Motghare (40) and Varsha Hinge (33). Five women have been admitted to Ramtek sub district hospital. They are out of danger. The others in the group were unharmed,” the official said. PTI COR BNM
