Trump’s former communications chief wants to see him ‘humiliated’, Biden win

Washington: Merely beating Donald Trump in November won’t be enough for Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served as the president’s communications chief but is now seeking to oust his former boss and help elect Democrat Joe Biden.

“He has a chance here to really get humiliated, which I hope he will,” Scaramucci said in an interview. “The economy’s in shambles as a direct result of his decision making and the politicization of a health-care crisis. And so for all those reasons, he’s obviously incompetent and so we’ve got to seek his removal.”

Scaramucci, who lasted in the communications job for 11 days in 2017 before Trump fired him, is part of the group behind an effort for other Republicans to back Biden and said he is helping fundraise for another anti-Trump GOP group, the Lincoln Project.

Scaramucci is helping Biden at a time when the Democrat is ahead in polls and the economy is in recession and surveys show Americans dissatisfied with Trump’s handling of the coronavirus.

The Trump-Scaramucci relationship splintered soon after the two parted ways, and they have traded insults ever since. Trump last year called Scaramucci, who founded SkyBridge Capital, a “highly unstable nut job” who was incompetent.

The White House declined to comment on Scaramucci’s criticism and his work for Biden.

Trump has been rebuked by a series of ex-staffers, including former National Security Adviser John Bolton, whose book last month alleged that Trump sought the help of China’s president to win re-election. But Bolton isn’t supporting Biden or Trump.

Scaramucci is one of the figures behind Right Side PAC, which says it’s seeking support for Biden from “Republicans who want to do the right thing.” Scaramucci said he’ll campaign “to explain to people the systemic danger of Donald Trump.” He said he supports Republican Voters Against Trump though he isn’t affiliated with it.

Trump was once more pragmatic but has descended into “full-blown demagoguery,” and is insecure and incapable of managing, Scaramucci said. Scaramucci called Trump “Covid Don” and likened his response to the coronavirus pandemic to former President Lyndon Johnson’s relentless support of the Vietnam War — “unwavering in your wrongfulness.”

While some Republicans are dismissed as “Never Trumpers,” Scaramucci considers himself a “Had Enough of Trumper.” He said a Biden victory “will be the end of Trumpism. It’s a personality cult,” he said. “Think of the Night King and Arya Stark.”-Bloomberg
