Kolkata, Jul 19 (PTI) Newly appointed West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya on Saturday claimed there has been a total breakdown of constitutional machinery in the state.
Alleging that there is no functional government in West Bengal, he claimed that the people of the state want “freedom” from TMC rule.
“There is a total absence of law and order, anarchy is reigning and it has led to a total breakdown of constitutional machinery,” he alleged.
“It is not that only anti-socials are taking refuge in West Bengal, but the state has also become a haven for ISIS elements,” Bhattacharya told reporters here when asked about the arrest of some alleged criminals linked to the murder of a gangster in Patna.
“While the state was a safe passage during the Left Front rule, it has become a safe haven for extremists under the present dispensation,” he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday accused the Trinamool Congress of risking national security by promoting infiltration for vote-bank politics.
Modi said at a public rally in Durgapur that the TMC’s appeasement politics have “crossed all limits” and they are now on the streets to protect infiltrators. PTI AMR ACD
