Kohima, May 20 (PTI) The Nagaland Police on Friday ordered the closure of all check-gates, except those at inter-state borders, with immediate effect in an effort to curb illegal collection of taxes from vehicles by various groups.
Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order), Sandeep M Tamgadge, in an order, said that this is in implementation of the state government’s notification issued by Chief Secretary J Alam on Thursday.
Only the inter-state check gates will continue to function and all others – permanent, semi-permanent, temporary and mobile – will be closed with immediate effect, the order said.
Local police authorities have been asked to submit reports to this effect by 6 pm on Saturday. PTI NBS NN NN
