Mumbai, Jul 17 (PTI) The Maharashtra government on Thursday promoted 1994 batch Indian Police Service officer Sukhwinder Singh to the rank of Director General ahead of his retirement at the end of this month.
The order to promote Singh was taken by the state home department, an official said.
“He is scheduled to retire from the force at the end of July after 31 years of the service. Singh was currently posted as Additional Director General (Establishment) in Maharashtra Police headquarters here. The post has been upgraded to DG rank,” the official said.
Singh has earlier served as ADG of State’s Economic Offences Wing, ADG Force One, Inspector General of Police (Konkan Range ), DIG ATS etc.
He probed several important cases, including the 2008 Malegaon blasts, during his stint with the ATS. PTI DC BNM
