New Delhi, Dec 13 (PTI) There will be no change of guard ceremony on Saturday due to a President’s polo exhibition match, the Rashtrapati Bhavan has said.

The change of guard ceremony, held in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, is a military tradition. It is held every week to enable a fresh group of the President’s Bodyguards to take charge.

“The change of guard ceremony will not take place tomorrow (December 14, 2024) due to the scheduled President’s Polo Exhibition match on December 14,” it said in a statement issued on Friday.

The President’s Bodyguard (PBG), raised in 1773, is the senior most regiment of the Indian Army. It is the regiment carrying out ceremonial duties for the President of India.

The PBG personnel are excellent horsemen, capable tank men and paratroopers. PTI AKV NB
