Newly weds commit ‘suicide’ in Jaipur

Jaipur, Jan 14 (PTI) A couple allegedly committed suicide here by consuming poisonous substance, police said on Friday.

“A man and his wife consumed some poisonous substance last night. They were rushed to a hospital where both of them died during treatment,” Adarshnagar Police Station House officer Vishnu Khatri said.

The deceased were identified as Hemant Sahu (26) and his wife Hemlata Sahu (21), both residents of Shankar Colony.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the husband had consumed poison after cutting veins of his hands, Khatri said.

He said the couple had got married nine months ago and that no complaint has yet been filed by the family members of either deceased.

Their bodies were handed over to their relatives after post mortem on Friday and a case has been registered under section 176 of the Crime Procedure Code, the officer said.
