Man’s body found in creek

Thane, Jul 16 (PTI) The body of a man was found in a creek in Retibandar area of Maharashtra’s Thane city on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The deceased was later identified as 37-year-old Hadrat Ali Hasan Sheikh, a resident of Mumbra, they said.

“Information about the body being spotted in the Parsik-Retibandar creek was received around 12 pm. Personnel from the Mumbra police Station, a mortuary van, and a fire brigade rescue team rushed to the scene and began recovery operations,” Yasin Tadvi, chief of the disaster management cell of the Thane civic body, said.

The body was spotted near the edge of the creek by a passerby, who informed the Mumbra fire station, he said.

“With coordinated efforts, the body was fished out and sent to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital for post-mortem,” Tadvi added.
