Man held for blackmailing collegian with obscene photographs, seeking money; associate on the run

Mumbai, Jul 17 (PTI) A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening to circulate obscene photographs of a collegian and seeking to extort money from her, a Mumbai police official said on Thursday.

The DN Nagar police station official said the 21-year-old victim’s boyfriend took her intimate photographs and passed it on to his friend, after which both resorted to blackmail and extortion.

“The complainant hails from Gurugram in Haryana was studying in a reputed college here. Her boyfriend and his friend also threatened to kill her if she did not pay money to ensure the photographs are not circulated. We registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to sexual harassment, criminal intimidation and extortion and arrested her boyfriend on Wednesday,” he said.
