Lucknow: The post-mortem report in the controversial murder of Hindu leader Kamlesh Tiwari shows he was shot in the face and stabbed 13 times, on his neck and below the left shoulder.

The 45-year-old leader of ultra-Right Hindu Samaj Party was murdered on 18 October at his Lucknow home. Two accused assailants were arrested in the case from Gujarat late Tuesday.

The post-mortem report, accessed by ThePrint, says the firearm wound entry measured 4 cm on the left side of Tiwari’s face and the exit wound was over 12 cm on the back, grazing the collar bone.

“In the X ray done (a) metallic bullet was seen and recovered from the right side of the back which was stuck in a cavity,” the report says.

“The bullet went inside the chin and made an exit wound in the back. The X ray clearly shows the bullet which went inside. It also damaged the collar bone area,” said an Uttar Pradesh Police officer, who did not wish to be named, told ThePrint.

The report cites “shock and haemorrhage” as the cause of Tiwari’s death.

It also shows that Tiwari’s throat was not only slashed multiple times causing deep wounds of over 12×3 cm but also stabbed with force, completely damaging his trachea and oesophagus.

“There are incised wounds and deep cavity cuts in the front neck, 6 cm below the chin,” the report says. “Vessels, muscles, larynx, trachea oesophagus found to be cut. Apart from that, stab wounds of 2 cm also found on neck and above the nipple.”

The UP Police officer said, “It appears that the assailants first shot Tiwari and then slashed his throat. The cuts are deep and consistent which shows that he could not resist much, since he was already injured.”

The murder case has been making headlines over the communal tone it has acquired. While the UP Police has claimed that ‘radicalised’ youths killed Tiwari, his mother has alleged that a local BJP leader was involved in his killing.

Aggressive stabbing near heart

According to the post-mortem report, Kamlesh Tiwari was stabbed continuously seven times at the same spot — the left side of the chest, near his heart.

“Multiple stab wounds (a total of 7) in area of 10 cm x 8 cm were present in the front of left side of the chest and the size of wounds varied from 0.2 cm x 05 cm,” the report says.

The UP Police officer quoted above said, “Out of 13 wounds, seven were targeted at the same spot and are very aggressive wounds as they go quite deep in the chest. These seven stabs were apart from multiple slits on his neck. The weapon used in the crime appears to be a very sharp one that could cut so deep.

“Such were the cuts that they completely damaged his internal parts including the trachea, muscles, tissues and oesophagus, leading to his instant death,” he added.

The report also found muscle-deep stab wounds measuring 2cm below the left shoulder.

“Apart from targeting the neck, the assailants also stabbed him multiple times in the chest, near the shoulder, may be to make sure that he was dead. It appears that they kept stabbing him even after his death,” the police officer said.

“It appears that Tiwari died of shock and haemorrhage after the first round of stabbing on his neck,” he added.

  1. Very grisly. Inflamed hate speech is now morphing into physical violence. Better to put the genie back into the bottle while there is still time.
