Doctor who conducted the examination says the goat died due to trauma. He also says all eight accused did not sexually assault the goat.

Mewat: Human semen has been found in the body of the goat allegedly raped by eight men in Maroda village of Haryana’s Nuh district, says the postmortem report.

“There is semen-like discharge from the goat’s vulva which proves that she was sexually assaulted by a human. Although we have collected the vaginal samples and sent it to forensics for further examination, it is a clear case of bestiality,” said Dr Ramvir Bhardwaj, veterinary surgeon of animal husbandry at Nagina, who conducted the postmortem.

It appears that the animal was thrashed, as it had visible bruises

The incident came to the fore on 25 July after Aslup Khan, a dairy farmer, who was looking for his missing goat, spotted the eight men allegedly sexually assaulting the animal inside a dark room in an abandoned house. After he raised an alarm, the men reportedly fled, leaving the goat behind. The animal died a day later.

Based on Aslup’s complaint, the police have booked eight men, three of whom have been identified, for allegedly raping the seven-year-old goat, which was 50 days pregnant with two foetuses. A case has been registered under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which prohibits “carnal intercourse against the order of nature with man, woman or animal”, and under the Animal Cruelty Act at Nagina police station in Nuh, earlier known as Mewat. The police are yet to make any arrests.

“The investigation is on. We have recorded statements of the witnesses and are on the lookout for the men who are absconding,” Nazneen Bhasin, superintendent of police, Nuh,

Trauma and brain injury

The postmortem report, a copy of which is with ThePrint, says the goat sustained severe bruises on her forehead and left eye, and died of trauma and brain injury, indicating that she was thrashed before being sexually abused.

According to the doctor, the goat was reportedly in a state of shock and stopped responding after the assault, though it was still alive and breathing.

“The death of the animal was caused by trauma and brain injury, which might have led to asphyxia and heart block due to the damage to the vital centre in the brain. It appears that the animal was thrashed, as it had visible bruises,” Dr Bhardwaj said.

He also said that since there was no visible injury on the goat’s vulva, it is unlikely that the animal was raped by eight men. “The goat was definitely sexually assaulted, but it seems unlikely that it was done by eight men. The vulva was swollen but there was no visible injury on it,” he said.

“I have never seen such a case in my career,” Bhardwaj added.

Men caught in the act

The FIR names Savkar, Harun and Jaffar, who were allegedly caught in the act and fled once people started gathering around the house.

“A few men said they saw Savkar and his friends dragging my goat to the abandoned house. When I went there, I caught them red-handed. They were laughing and assaulting my goat. I pulled them out and thrashed them but they managed to flee. They had goat hair all over their lower body, and everyone saw it. That is proof enough that she was assaulted,” Aslup said.

“After the assault, the goat stopped eating or responding and then died a day later.”

Aslup alleged that the three men often harass women in the area, and are involved in illegal activities like arms-dealing and betting.

The police have formed teams to nab the absconding accused, and are conducting raids at possible hideouts. “The men have fled and have also left their phones behind so that their location cannot be traced. Whenever we go to their residence, we never find male members. The women of the house even prohibit us from entering,” an investigator said.

“We are now developing local intelligence to make the arrest,” he added.
