New Delhi: Birthday parties marked in “Westernised” way, New Year celebrations, Hindu parents who follow “fake secularism”, are among the many reasons why Hindu girls get “attracted” and later duped by Muslim men, resulting in love jihad.

All these have been written in articles published in Vishva Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) fortnightly magazine Hindu Vishwa, whose latest edition was released Friday.

The cover story has been titled ‘Love jihad se desh bachaye’ (Save India from love jihad). The magazine also listed 147 alleged cases of love jihad across the country and carries 11 articles on the subject penned by various Right-Wing writers.

In one of the articles by Ramesh Shinde, spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, an organisation working in the field of conversions, he wrote that parents are not bringing up their children well and are exposing them to the “Western way of life”.

“It is not difficult to trap young Hindu girls in love as their Hindu parents have already become secular. They keep on preaching the fake narrative of Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb and that all religions are equal,” Shinde wrote in his article called ‘Love Jihad — Vishva Bhar Mein Bhayankar Sharyantra’ (Love Jihad — a worldwide conspiracy).

“As Hindus the way one should conduct themselves is missing from the families now. We have become slave to western way of life. Cutting cake on birthdays, celebrating New Year on December 31 and following other things as per Christian religion doesn’t seem unfit to them… and they end up thinking from that secular point of view and get duped,” he added.

Shinde also wrote that Bollywood is a bad influence.

“Bollywood also has a big influence in this wherein all the ‘Khan’ actors have Hindu wives. Due to this, also Hindu girls from simple families get duped.”

“Aamir Khan presents himself as a modern and secular actor but even he had said clearly that my wife can be Hindu, but my son would be Muslim only,” he further wrote.

The 147 cases of love jihad that were listed by the RSS affiliate allegedly took place between 2011 and 2020. Some of the latest cases were from Uttar Pradesh.

Vijay Shanker Tiwari, spokesperson and editor of the magazine, wrote there has been an increase in the number of love jihad cases in India.

“The same section that runs love jihad, they also run religious jihad and terrorism. These issues have to be understood well and should be termed as war against the nation and need to be controlled soon,” he added.

Article on Urdu words ‘attacking the soul of Hindi’

In another article — ‘Hindi ko bhi chaiye sankraman se mukti’ — penned by VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal, he came up with a list of 227 Urdu words, and wrote that people have been using them without realising that they aren’t Hindi words.

“I made a list of 227 Urdu words that have been attacking the soul of Hindi… Can we not say ‘samachar patra’ (newspaper) rather than ‘Akhbaar’, ‘jan shankya’ (population) rather than ‘aabadi’, ‘vishraam’ (rest) in place of ‘aaram’, ‘kareeb’ (near) in place of ‘sameep’.”

In a statement, VHP’s central working president Alok Kumar said that love jihad is a calculated agenda of invasion on India’s demography.

“The police, government and society will have to remain on guard and come together for timely action to deactivate and neutralise it,” said Kumar.

He further termed it as a conspiracy “being run by some people through money power, wherewithal/resources and religious superstitions”.

“It is absolutely necessary to stop it. The list of 147 love jihad case studies with facts and figures given in the magazine will open the eyes of the society,” he added.

‘A love jihadist confident of support from his community’

Kumar said Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had said in 2012 that 2,667 Hindu girls had converted to Islam in the previous three years and during that period, 79 girls had returned to their Hindu fold and two to Christian fold.

“This imbalance is disturbing. A love jihadist is confident that whatever he is doing to deceive the unsuspecting Hindu girls (especially those from the lower/middle income groups) by playing a Hindu boy by wearing tilak on their forehead, Kalava thread on right hand, and trap them into marriage and convert them to Islam, and hang out with them, has the full support of his community,” he said.

Kumar also said that Hindu Vishwa has “exposed the pan-India Love Jihad conspiracy” through its researched data on 147 cases and these facts will help the authorities deal with the problem.
