Moradabad, Jun 8 (PTI) A woman candidate who appeared for the Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment examination and her maternal uncle were killed after a speeding dumper hit their motorcycle while they were returning home in Moradabad district on Monday, police said.

The deceased were identified as Naina alias Pooja (20), a resident of Narayanpur village under Dilari police station, and her maternal uncle Ram Singh (30), a resident of Kankarkheda village under Bhagatpur police station, officials said.

Police said Naina had appeared for the first day of the Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment examination in Rampur and was returning home with her uncle on a motorcycle around 2:30 pm.

When the motorcycle reached near Kankarkheda village on the Dalpatpur-Kashipur road, a speeding dumper coming from the Dungarpur side allegedly rammed into it, police said.

The impact was so severe that both the riders died on the spot and the motorcycle was badly damaged, officials added.

After the accident, the dumper driver fled from the spot with the vehicle as residents gathered there. Police reached the spot after receiving information and sent the bodies for postmortem examination.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kunwar Akash Singh and Circle Officer Thakurdwara Ashish Pratap Singh inspected the accident site and directed officials to take necessary action.

Police said evidence was collected from the spot and efforts were underway to identify the dumper and its driver with the help of CCTV footage and other technical means.

The relatives of the deceased reached the spot after being informed about the accident. Police said a case would be registered on the basis of a complaint received from the family, and further legal action would follow. PTI COR KIS APL APL
