New Delhi, Jun 8 (PTI) A semi-decomposed body of a 40-year-old man was found in a jungle area beneath a flyover near Khajuri Khas Metro Station in northeast Delhi on Monday, police said.
Police received information about the body at around 5 pm and rushed to the spot, where the body of a man was found lying on the ground under the flyover.
The deceased was identified as Azharuddin (40), a resident of Chand Bagh in northeast Delhi, they said.
Crime and forensic teams inspected the scene and collected evidence from the spot as part of the investigation.
During preliminary inquiry, police found that Azharuddin worked as a waiter, an officer said.
A case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to murder, has been registered at Khajuri Khas Police Station and further investigation is underway, police said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death, they added.
Police said multiple teams have been constituted and efforts are being made to identify, trace and apprehend the person or persons involved in the crime at the earliest.
