Morinda/Gharuan/Barnala: With three weeks to go for Punjab assembly elections, political leaders have a packed schedule of public appearances amid hectic campaigning. From meeting people to clicking selfies with party workers, they were seen moving swiftly from one place to another to cover maximum ground.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi inaugurated a Congress office in Gharuan village of SAS Nagar district. The following day, he filed his nomination papers from Bhadaur (SC) seat in Barnala district. He is also contesting from Chamkaur Sahib, his home constituency, which he has represented thrice in the assembly.
From holding a recital of the Guru Granth Sahib at his residence, to meeting Congress workers and interacting with the public, Channi was seen traveling to multiple locations.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal was spotted taking selfies with party supporters at Thikriwala Chowk in Barnala.
Punjab will vote on 20 February. The main parties the ruling Congress is pitted against are the Aam Aadmi Party, the Akali Dal, and the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has allied with former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress.
