Prime Minister Modi chose to visit Kevadia to celebrate the Namami Narmada festival that marks the Sardar Sarovar Dam recording its highest water level of 138.68 metres for the first time.

He also performed a puja along with Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani to “welcome” the Narmada river water.

The prime minister then reviewed the tourism infrastructure in Kevadia. He visited the Cactus garden and the Ekta nursery.

Modi released a basket of butterflies at the Butterfly Garden in Kevadia and named a saffron-coloured plain tiger butterfly as the state butterfly.

As is now tradition on his birthday, he also met his mother Heeraben and shared a meal with her.

Modi’s birthday trends

Prime Minister Modi’s birthday was the number one trending topic in India as leaders from across the political spectrum wished him.

From Chief Minsters Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Nitish Kumar and Jagan Mohan Reddy, to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, the prime minister was flooded with birthday greetings.

Many BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Dr Harsh Vardhan and Sambit Patra, also wished Modi.

Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar commemorated the occasion through a column where he called Modi “a leader par excellence.”

  1. Sickening how he uses even his 93 year old mother as a photo opportunity.
Everything here has been carefully choreographed, including the food.
This man without the propaganda is nothing, just like the Nazis stripped of the propaganda it was revealed that they were merely a bunch of thugs. Nothing else or anything of note

    • You are a sick man. He has every right to be with his mum and he is after all the PM of the country. Every step he takes is a news item. If that hurts your feeling, stop reading Indian newspaper. There are many Pakistani newspapers you may think of.

  2. Self publicity, even butterflies are caged for him to release unlike Kashmiris who are not so lucky. May be Bhakts would say if Nehruji can release pigeons, why can’t Modi release butterflies.
