Palghar, Jul 16 (PTI) Two rival groups, including women, that had gone to a police station to file complaints came to blows on the very premises in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, an official said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Tulunj police station in the Nalasopara area, and a video of the clash went viral on social media.

An official from the police station said that two rival parties had come to lodge complaints in connection with a dispute. However, before the matter could be addressed formally, they got into a heated argument, the official said.

The exchange of words then devolved into a fight, with members of both sides punching and kicking one another, besides hurling abuses.

The video shows cops at the police station intervening to separate the quarrelling individuals. However, even after being separated, they continued to abuse one another loudly, he said.

“We have not yet registered an offence against those involved in the fight. Our inquiry to ascertain the reason behind their dispute is underway,” the official added. PTI COR NR
