Hyderabad, Jun 9 (PTI) The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on Tuesday said it registered a disproportionate assets case against the Engineer in Chief of the Roads and Buildings department and found assets worth Rs 17.94 crore during searches conducted at his residence and places belonging to his relatives and associates.
The official allegedly acquired assets by indulging in “corrupt practices and dubious means” during his service, a release from ACB said.
The preliminary searches were conducted on Tuesday at his office, residence and 15 other places belonging to his relatives, associates and “benamidars”, according to the release.
During the searches, several property documents were found pertaining to agricultural land parcels measuring 19.38 acres in Nizamabad district, seven flats, one triplex villa and one newly constructed house at different places here.
It was further identified that an advance amount of Rs 1 crore was paid towards the purchase of a newly constructed villa at Nizamabad.
The market value of the properties is expected to be much higher than the official value, the ACB said.
Furthermore, net cash of Rs 55 lakh, bank balances amounting to approximately Rs 1.44 crore, gold ornaments weighing about 2,500 grams, silver ornaments weighing about 6,000 grams, besides household articles, electronic gadgets, and two vehicles were also identified.
The total assets are estimated at over Rs 17.94 crore. Further verification regarding additional assets is underway.
The accused officer will be arrested and produced before the court at Hyderabad for judicial remand, the ACB said. The case is under investigation. PTI VVK VVK ADB
