Pratapgarh (UP), Jul 19 (PTI) A court here has sentenced a six persons, including five members of family, to rigorous life imprisonment for murdering a father-son duo in 2020 over a dispute.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Babu Ram also imposed a fine of Rs 42,500 on each of Sheetla Singh, wife Chanda Devi, sons Vipin and Ranjeet, daughter-in-law Preeti and Prakash Saroj on Friday.
Government Advocate Rakesh Pratap Singh on Saturday said that Mithlesh, a resident of Balipur under Hathgawan police station area in Pratapgarh, had in a complaint to the police alleged that on the evening of November 2, 2020, Sheetla Singh was coming home with his son Vipin Singh after loading paddy on a tractor and the tractor got stuck in an electricity wire hanging there.
Following this, Sheetla Singh had a dispute with Rajendra Bahadur Singh over removing the wire.
As the argument intensified, Preeti attacked Rajendra Singh with a stick. Meanwhile, Vipin came out with a gun, Sheetla Singh and Saroj with country-made pistols and Ranjeet with a stick.
Sheetla Singh challenged Rajendra Singh and his son Abhay and shot them, while Ranjeet and mother Chanda Devi beat them with sticks, the complaint alleged.
