Seoni (MP), Jul 16 (PTI) Two minor brothers were found dead with their throats slit and bodies dumped in a forest in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, a day after they went missing, police said.
The boys, aged 9 and 6, went missing from Subhash Ward area of Seoni city under Kotwali police station, where their home is located, on Tuesday evening. A day later, their bodies were found 3km inside Ambamai forest on Seoni-Katangi (Balaghat district) road, 12km from the district headquarters, an official said.
Their throats were slit by an unidentified person, who covered the bodies with stones kept nearby in the forest, the official said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Kumar Mehta told PTI that the mother of the victims had lodged a missing as well as kidnapping compliant of her sons at the Kotwali police station.
After interrogating a suspect during a search of the boys, a joint team of Kotwali and Dundaseoni police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination, the SP said.
A dog squad and forensic team inspected the spot where the bodies were found and collected evidence related to the murder, said Mehta, adding further investigation was underway. PTI COR MAS RSY
