New Delhi: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat Tuesday launched ‘The RSS: Roadmaps for 21st Century’, a book by Sunil Ambekar, ABVP national organising secretary, which details views of the RSS, the ideological patron of the ruling BJP.

In his book, Ambekar wrote, “The Sangh calls upon society to strengthen the family system through inculcation of proper values to prevent crimes. This alone is the long-term solution. Only a close-knit family can discipline the hormonal surges and the vagaries of the minds of young people and give them a certain direction.”

The book also weights in on feminism and says, “Feminism is the language of male oppression and class struggle and it shows no flexibility to account for diverse experiences…. The hippie culture of the West in the 60s and 70s became the coda of this stream of thought.”

At the book launch Bhagwat asserted, “Bharat is a Hindu Rashtra. This is the truth. No one can change that. As long as even one person considers the country his “matrabhoomi” and calls himself a Hindu, this will remain a Hindu nation. Rest can change according to time period and circumstances.”

On Ambekar’s book, the Bhagwat said, “This book is Sunil Ambekar’s understanding of RSS and is drawn from his experiences on ground. We never curtail freedom of expression and everyone has the freedom to express their views and expression. But once a consensus has been arrived at everyone is bound by that.” He added that the Sangh can’t be bracketed into any ideology and it does not believe in any -isms and is not represented by any book including.

Talking about the Sangh’s role in society, Bhagwat said the basic purpose is to change the person. “The Sangh wants the whole society to be organised,” he added.
