Viral video of MiG aircraft landing on a dam is not real, is a simulation video game

The video is a simulation game made by Digital Combat Simulator. It was first posted on YouTube in October last year.

New Delhi: A video of a MiG-29 aircraft landing on a dam went viral on social media Sunday.

MiG aircraft are series fighter aircraft that have been the backbone of the Indian Air Force for the last 50 years.

Harsh Goenka, chairman, RPG Enterprises, who has 1.6 million followers on Twitter, shared the video, calling it “Incredible”. His tweet has been liked over 1,200 times.

Goenka was responding to a tweet posted by another user Shakti S. Chauhan, who wrote: “Beautiful landing by a #MIG aircraft on a dam and even more stunning take off”. Chauhan’s tweet was liked by over 2,000 users and retweeted more than 450 times.

 

Another Twitter user, who describes himself as a “military historian”, wrote: “Take off is the incredible part. Such is the thrust to weight ratio. Modi ji hein to sab mumkin hai.”

The video was also shared widely on Facebook.

The video showing a MiG aircraft landing on a dam is not real but is actually an animation cut out from a simulation game made by Digital Combat Simulator (DCS). It is a free-to-play digital battlefield game and offers a realistic simulation of military aircraft, tanks, ground vehicles, and ships.

Titled “MiG 29 landing on the dam 😉 DCS”, the video was first posted on YouTube on 17 October 2020 by a flight simulation fan, who later, in the comment section, apprised the viewers that it’s made by a flight simulator game and also gave the links to the site.
