New Delhi: A video has gone viral on social media claiming that thousands of people in Mumbai protested against the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Parliament earlier this week. The video, uploaded Friday, was shared 11,000 times and got over 3,700 likes on Facebook.
The image — being shared in the backdrop of protests against the citizenship law — shows a huge gathering of people on the intersection of a road and a flyover.
“Protest Against CAB at Mohammed Ali road Mumbai,” reads the caption with the image shared on Facebook.
The bill, which was signed unto law by President Ram Nath Kovind late Thursday, promises citizenship to non-Muslim illegal migrants of six communities — Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains and Buddhists — from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The image, it appears, is not from Mumbai’s Mohammad Ali Road but from Chittagong in Bangladesh.
The search results showed a 10 November 2019 video uploaded on YouTube with the caption, which roughly translates to, “Praises to be God/Thank you God, Crowd of Lakhs Prophet lover are celebrating the procession, jasne julus, Chittagong.”
According to a report on 29 October 2019 by the Dhaka Tribune, Eid-e-Milad un Nabi was to be observed across Bangladesh on Sunday, 10 November 2019. Several such videos were shot near the same spot on the occasion of Eid E Milad un Nabi, which is the prophet’s birthday.
