New Delhi: An edited video of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s interview with a news channel has been widely shared on social media to falsely claim that he was in support of the farm laws.

In the video, CM Kejriwal can be heard saying that this is the best reform in agriculture in the last 70 years, which will give the farmers the best price for their produce as they will be able to sell their crops anywhere.

Kejriwal can also be heard saying that farmers will not lose their land, MSP or their mandi.

BJP’s official spokesperson Sambit Patra posted the video on Twitter Saturday with the caption: “Sir ji, counting the benefits of the three farm bills.”

His post was retweeted over 17,000 times and it garnered more than 40,000 likes till the time of publishing this report.

The video has also been shared on Facebook, primarily by accounts, who seem to be supporters of the BJP.

Fact check

The original video is from an interview of Kejriwal on 15 January with Zee News. In the interview, Kejriwal was in conversation with Zee Punjab-Haryana-Himachal Editor-in-Chief Dileep Tiwari and Associate Editor Jagdeep Sandhu.

Various sections of the interview have been clubbed, cut and edited to wrongly portray that Kejriwal was advocating the farm laws.

But, in reality, the Delhi CM had said, “The central government should come to their senses and immediately withdraw all the three farm laws. The Centre should overcome the pressure of capitalists and listen to the farmers. These farm laws should be scrapped before 26 January to avoid a confrontation.”
