The video, being shared on Twitter, falsely claims that a Hindu deity’s wrath over the Sabarimala Temple case has caused the Kerala floods.

New Delhi: A video showing a severe flood situation at the Kochi airport is being shared widely on social media platform Twitter.

An unverified account on Twitter said Kerala is facing the wrath of celibate Hindu God Lord Ayyappa.

According to the tweet, Lord Ayyappa is angry as his privacy is being disturbed by a petition on allowing women of menstrual age to enter the Sabrimala Temple. The tweet also said the ritual couldn’t be stopped even by the Mughals and the British.

The Supreme Court recently concluded hearings in the case, but the verdict is still awaited.

Kerala is facing its worst floods since 1924, in which more than 60 people have died. As a result, the Kochi Airport has been forced to remain shut till August 26.

By the time this copy was published, the twitter account had deleted the tweet.

However, the video in the tweet above is from Mexico.

El Weso, a Mexican radio programme, tweeted the Mexico City International Airport video in August 2017 when heavy rains hit the country.

The same video was also used to show the flood situation in Mumbai last month.

  1. This BJP IT cell which thrives on cheap canards should be banned first.Someone should find a way to teach people not to react till verifying,

  2. Fools are saying blind faith, when Christians keep faith on Christ and Muslims keep faith on mohemed nabi it is faith when a Hindu keep faith in Ayyappa Or Guruvayoorappan it is fake what a foolishness,do not under estimate Hindu faith.

    • Yes you are right, nations all over the world protect their own gods, beliefs and rituals, only when it comes to the case of a hindus beliefs they are tormenting us like this, in fact, i felt so hurt by the arguements in the Supreme court; the judges have not even bothered to research on the history of Lord ayyapan and the tenets behind this particular temple. we must learn from the most developed nation like Japan where there is atemple on an island where women are forbidden due to their own beliefs and reasons, and these most intelligent people are abiding to their customs. Can the Indians challenge the population of Japan in any sphere of development,so please keep your mouths shut you smart alecks , Indians who r opposing our beliefs
