New Delhi: Two videos purportedly of the excessive downpour and subsequent water-logging in Delhi have been doing rounds on the Internet. The first shows a woman and a man in neck-deep water inside a house, with the woman trying to swim in the water. The video has been shared by many verified handles on social media.

Delhi Congress Vice President Abhishek Dutt had shared the video on his Twitter timeline Thursday, taking a jibe at the ruling Aam Aadmi Party by saying that the promise of an international-level swimming pool had been fulfilled by the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi.

The video has been watched by over one lakh people since then and also shared by around 900 users. Quoting Dutt’s tweet, former AAP MLA Alka Lamba also shared the video with the hashtag #Delhi and commented that “this is too much”.

Dutt also shared another video Thursday, allegedly of a waterlogged DTC bus from Delhi. The video was viewed by more than 35,000 people. A handle by the name of ‘Being Habibi’ also shared the video, which was further shared by more than 3,000 people.

Fact check

Neither of the videos is from Delhi. The first one is from Prayagraj from September 2019, while the second is a recent one from Jaipur. Some news reports claimed that in the first video, water from the Ganga had flooded the house. The second video, of water entering a low-floor bus, is from 11 August in Jaipur, and had been reported by many local newspapers. At the time of publishing this article, neither of Dutt’s video posts had been taken down.
