New Delhi: After six days, India has registered less than 40,000 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. The total active caseload in the country has also declined to 4,38,667.
More than 86 lakh people have recovered in total and India’s death toll stands at 1,34,218.
Daily cases
In the last 24 hours, India recorded 37,975 cases. For the last 17 days in a row, daily new cases have remained below the 50,000-mark.
Active cases
India’s total active caseload now stands at 4,38,667 cases. It makes up 4.78 per cent of the total cases recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
Number of deaths
The number of daily fatalities reported touched 480 in the past 24 hours. Ten states and Union Territories contributed to 73.54 per cent of the total deaths.
Since the beginning of this pandemic, India’s death toll has been 1,34,218.
Mortality rate
Punjab continues to record the highest case fatality rate in India at 3.1 per cent. This is followed by Maharashtra at 2.6 per cent and Sikkim at 2.1 per cent.
India’s average case fatality rate stands at 1.5 per cent.
Daily tests
In the past 24 hours, the tests conducted per million population increased to 96,971 tests. An average of more than 10 lakh tests are being conducted in India daily. In the last 24 hours, 10,99,545 samples were tested.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, India has conducted 13,36,82,275 tests.
Positivity rate
The daily positivity rate dropped once again to 3.4 per cent after a spike Monday. Since more than 10 lakh daily tests are being conducted in the country, a low positivity rate is expected.
Recovered cases
On Tuesday, 86,04,955 recoveries were recorded and the recovery rate also increased to 93.76 per cent.
Total cases
The total Covid cases in India, as of Tuesday, stands at 91,77,840. India has the second-highest number of Covid cases in the world after the US.
States with the highest active cases
Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of active cases in India at 81,902. The number of deaths reported in the state stands at 46,653. In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 4,454 cases.
Kerala has recorded the second-highest number of active cases at 64,174 and has reported 2,072 deaths in total. It recorded 3,757 cases in the last 24 hours.
Delhi has the third-highest number of active cases at 37,329. So far, 8,512 deaths have been reported. It recorded 4,454 cases in 24 hours and the total cases in the national capital stand at 5,34,317.
West Bengal has recorded 25,030 active cases and 8,072 deaths. It reported 3,557 cases in the past 24 hours, which has increased the total number of cases in the state to 4,59,918.
Karnataka has recorded 24,708 active cases and 11,678 deaths. It reported 1,509 cases in the last 24 hours.
