PTM leader Manzoor Pashteen banned from entering Balochistan

Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen was denied entry to Balochistan Monday, The Express Tribune reports.

Pashteen is facing a 90-day ban on his entry into the province. The curb comes two days after the Sindh government carried out a similar ban on him. The Sindh government was forced to withdraw their ban after protests on social media.

According to media reports, the Pakistan government called him a threat to security, saying his entry was restricted due to his hate speech and incendiary statements against the state and its security institutions.

PTM, which has been agitating for several months over “forced disappearances” and other severe human rights violations, especially in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, has largely been ignored by the Pakistani media because of the crackdown by the pro-army Imran Khan government.

PPP spokesperson Farhatullah Babar tweeted, “CM Sindh has ordered withdrawal of expulsion order of Manzoor Pashteen. Thank you Chairman BBZ, CM Murad. It is not victory of one and defeat of other. It is triumph of sanity over insanity. All have shown maturity. Am confident that PTM also looks at it like this.”

‘Imran Khan taking credit for PML-N govt’s projects’

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marriyum Aurangzeb Monday accused Prime Minister Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government of stealing and taking credit for projects which were launched by the previous regime, reports Pakistan Today.

Imran Khan on 29 November had briefed an audience at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad about the government’s performance during its first 100 days in office. According to a report in Dawn, Khan said that the government signed agreements with 26 countries allowing them access to information about wealth of Pakistanis stashed abroad, besides listing other achievements.

Aurangzeb, in a video message, claims that the previous government had signed MOUs with China.

“The real problem of this government is that it lies. The 26 MoUs were signed by (former finance minister) Ishaq Dar”, she said.

According to media reports, Ishaq Dar claimed it was he who had signed the convention of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 2016, which automatically allowed member countries to share and receive information on issues of money laundering and asset recovery.

“I signed the agreement but never took credit,” Dar was quoted as saying.

Rs 40 million spent on PM Imran Khan’s six foreign visits

The National Assembly was told that Rs 40 million has been spent on PM Imran Khan’s foreign visits since August so far.

According to an article in The Nation, “The first visit to Saudi Arabia from 18 September to 19 September cost national exchequer Rs 3099362 while Rs 433215 was spent on visit to Dubai during same dates.”

Khan who had previously commented on Nawaz Shariff’s luxurious travels has now said that he won’t travel until required.

Mahira and Fawad starrer film first in Pakistan to get same day release in China

The Legend of Maula Jatt, an upcoming flick starring Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Humaima Malick and Hamza Ali Abbasi, will be the first film from the subcontinent to get the same date release in China with its domestic release in Pakistan, The Express Tribune reports.

Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan have both acted in Bollywood films.

China maintains a limited quota for release of foreign films every year.

“It’s no mean feat as China has a limited quota for foreign films to be released each year,” a press release read. Only a small number of big Hollywood banner films are able to bag mainstream releases and the same date release as their domestic markets in China.

Spider Man 2, Captain America and X Men are those handful of big movies that have been able to earn the same-day release in China as in their own national markets.

Bollywood films, on the other hand, have also been released in China with record setting reception but have never been released on the same date as they were in India. Films like Dangal, Secret Super Star, Hindi Medium and Bahubali were released in China months after they were released in India.

The Maula Jatt team had announced last weekend on Twitter that the movie will hit cinema halls in 2019.
