New Delhi: Netflix series ‘Delhi Crime‘, which is based on the 2012 gangrape-murder case, won an International Emmy in the ‘Best Drama Series’ category Monday night.

The seven-episode series stars actors Shefali Shah, Rasika Duggal, Rajesh Railang and Adil Hussain in prominent roles and follows the investigation by Delhi Police into the brutal gang rape-murder case.

It was written and directed by Richie Mehta, who was also the executive producer, and was produced by Golden Karavan, a global production company.

Shah, who was the lead actors in the series, shared a video on Twitter of the award being announced.

In his acceptance speech, Mehta thanked his producers, cast and crew, and Netflix for streaming the show.

“This project was led by women, it was financed and put together and released by women, this crime was solved by women. This is for the courage of those women and all the women who not only endure the violence so many men must inflict on them but are then tasked with solving the problem,” said Mehta.

“And finally the fearless and tireless Asha Devi and her daughter Jyoti Singh. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about you both… I hope none of us ever forget,” he added.
