Data from the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau released Thursday reveals just how safe or unsafe India’s cities are.

Here’s what the data for 2016 reveals about how safe our cities are when it comes to crime against children, murders, and crime against women. The rate of crime reveals how many crimes have been recorded per one lakh citizens in these cities:

  1. In a country of 1.2 billion people and cities like Delhi where 18 million people live and Mumbai where 20 million people live, these comparative crime statistics are insignificant. Compare those to New York or Chicago or London and then you would know that these crime statistics are insignificant.
