The Allahabad High Court’s observations while granting bail to BJP leader and Shahjahanpur ashram owner Chinmayanand are unusual, unwarranted and unfortunate. Drawing wild conclusions and saying things like both parties ‘used each other’, even before the trial is complete, is bound to prejudice the case proceedings and demoralise the complainant.

Students going abroad shouldn’t be burdened with 5% tax. Govt must exempt them

The budget proposal for levying a 5% tax collected at source on overseas remittances is illogical and will create needless trouble for students going abroad to study. The Modi government should exempt students from this onerous proposal that will increase costs and paperwork, and block their cash for a year.
