Monsoon session of Parliament was the second shortest-ever, but was also productive, especially the passage of farm sector and labour reforms legislations. Pushing through contentious reforms signals the government’s readiness to deal with economic challenges. But this came at a cost. Both government and the opposition were guilty of brinkmanship.
LAC status quo ante seems long way off, India must keep pressure on China & keep talking too
India and China have issued another joint statement and the focus for now clearly appears to be containment of the tensions in Ladakh. Status quo ante, however, seems a long way off. This leaves India with no option but to strengthen its defences, keep the pressure, and keep talking too.
