Every dinner-table debate doesn’t deserve a day in court, the Allahabad High Court has made clear by rejecting demands to investigate the history and ‘truth’ of the Taj Mahal. India is awash with historical grievances. The courts, though, are meant to right the wrongs of the present, not the past.
