Pakistan is back to its usual games. After sentencing JuD chief Hafiz Saeed in a terror funding case, it’s now seeking to arrest Jaish chief Masood Azhar – all just weeks before the next FATF meeting. This is a playbook Islamabad has perfected. FATF needs to wake up to this perfidy.
Budaun & Hathras expose UP Police’s tough-on-crime reputation. Yogi must fix last mile apathy
UP Police’s storied reputation of being tough on crime appears to be reserved only for ‘encounter killings’. The real work lies at the thana and district level. The delayed police action in Budaun and Hathras fatal rape cases shows Yogi government must fix inefficiency and apathy at the last mile.
There are many miles of abysmal governance, stretching from Saharanpur to Sonabhadra, that the Bisht administration should fix. The tragedy of children dying at the Gorakhpur hospital was an early test of the CM’s governance acumen. All that came out of it was the persecution of Dr Kafeel Khan. Giving the police a “ free hand “, in this case extending to a long string of encounters, as an easy, low cost way of improving law and order / crime control is one of the enduring myths of public administration. One agrees with Ms Rohini Singh when she calls her state the heart of darkness.
China has crowded Pakistan completely out of my consciousness. It was always a bit of a red herring to focus on it. The barbarians are at the gate, with a 5.7x economy. Focuses the mind wonderfully.
Pakistan is a nation where only pure ISLAM is practised and killing of non believers and infidels is in order.
Hafeez Saaed and his colleagues are giving INDIANS a lesson as to what happens when HINDUS are in minority.
