NITI Aayog’s 2020 SDG Index has laid bare India’s stark development disparities and exposed the hollowness of slogans and promises of progress in the under-developed states. Hindi heartland states have to get past their politics and catch up with the rest. The brilliant job done by NITI must be commended.

Declaring victory over Covid second wave is not only premature but also dangerous. India, or any other country, can’t make the same mistake for the second time in six months. The second wave isn’t over if our daily vaccination rate remains abysmally low. Especially as a third wave appears inevitable.
