Veteran Karnataka Congress MLA Ramesh Kumar’s ‘rape’ remark is reprehensible. BJP is justified in criticising Congress. But outrage shouldn’t be selective. BJP’s Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde laughing at Kumar’s comment was equally deplorable. Lawmakers joking about rape shows an urgent need to sensitise our politicians that even banter has clear limits.
