The super blue blood moon made its second appearance in 25 years and brought out astrologers who made some pretty outlandish theories.
New Delhi: It wasn’t just the “super blue blood moon” that made an appearance Wednesday night, nearly a quarter century after it first appeared. Numerous predictions from various experts, each more outlandish than the next, also leapt out of the woodwork.
The Wednesday phenomenon combined three extremely rare events: a total eclipse, super moon and blue moon.
According to one twitter handle, people in Telangana were worried about the phenomenon signalling a doomsday like phenomenon.

There were voices of rationality. An astrologer and vaastu specialist, Raveendran Nair, said that these beliefs stem from superstitions of the past when people didn’t know much.
“In today’s day and age even astrologers have become more educated. But some people still want to take advantage of others so they exaggerate and scare people. But there is nothing for people to worry about,” he said.
But he was in a minority. Indrajit Kashyap, Chairman of the All India Institute of Occult Science, said there were some positive effects to be expected but the majority would be negative.
Kashyap said that it would be good for everyone to pray, have a bath or donate today as the blessings would multiply a million times.
But he also warned people not to eat between 5:18 pm and 8:20 pm. “Especially if you are old, sick or pregnant”, he said.
“Pregnant ladies shouldn’t get out of the house at any rate unless it is an emergency, because the rays are harmful to them. They shouldn’t have sex either. If they do 200 per cent the child will be handicapped. It is guaranteed”, Kashyap said.

Another astrologer, Y. Rakhi, who appeared on multiple channels advised people not to eat, sleep, drink, watch television, study, gossip, use Facebook or Twitter. She said the most important thing to do would be to sit next to one’s parents and give them a foot massage.
“Pakistani terrorists could also attack us and a big minister’s mother, perhaps Modi’s mother, could face problems,” she said. And she had an ominous warning as well.
The effects of the blood moon will continue for the next 6 months, Rakhi said.
