All exit polls predict a comfortable victory for the BJP in Gujarat. Ditto for Himachal Pradesh.
All exit polls published Thursday after the second phase of voting in Gujarat predicted a comfortable victory for the BJP in the state. They were also unanimous in predicting that the BJP would win the polls in Himachal Pradesh.
The only disappointment for the party is that it might not meet its president Amit Shah’s target of 150 seats in Gujarat.
The Congress will also have reason for some cheer as it is expected to improve on its performance since the 2012 polls, but not one of the polls predicted that it would even come close to winning the election.
The exit polls also predicted a comfortable victory for the BJP in Himachal Pradesh. The voter turnout in the 2017 assembly elections set a new record as 74.61 per cent voters came out to vote, inching past the 2003 record of 64.51 per cent.
The party, which had 26 seats in the outgoing assembly, is expected to get a majority easily.
