The Print’s Deputy Editor Manu Pubby was in Kaliningrad in Russia to visit the Yantar shipyard, which could build two frigates for the Indian Navy.(Read the report here)

Here are some photos from the shipyard:

The first stage of a shipbuilding starts with a simple metal sheet.

The Yantar shipyard is located in Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave in Europe that was with Germany before World War II. The German legacy at the yard continues. This is one of the oldest but still functional machines in the shipyard that has been there since 1941.

Two incomplete frigates lined up at Yantar. Both are likely to be semi-completed at the shipyard and then delivered to India where they will be finished by Goa Shipyard.

At the museum in Yantar, India finds a special place. Three of the Talwar class frigates were delivered from the shipyard.
