‘Modi’s ouster on 23 May will be India’s fitting reply to the most foul-mouthed PM’

‘Modi needs to be warned that he’s guilty of anti-national activity in trying to ride on sacrifices of Army & CRPF martyrs in a dirty election campaign,’ writes Mani Shankar Aiyar.

I think I have discovered why Narendra Modi loathes Jawaharlal Nehru so much. Nehru had a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. It made him realise that to pull India and Indians out of superstition, from what Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore called “the dreary desert sands of dead habit”, modern India must cultivate a “scientific temper”, an expression that drives sanghis nuts because they like to believe the “udan khatolas” of mythology were the earliest F-16s to be invented by Hindus, and that Hindu plastic surgery, not a transplant operation, is what led to an elephant’s head surmounting Lord Ganesh. Both these stunningly illiterate claims come from the mouth of none less than the Prime Minister of our country, whose acquaintance with higher education has gone no further than lying about degrees from Delhi and Gujarat universities that he never got and who can obviously not tell a scientific proposition from a ‘dhokla’.

That, in itself, would not matter. For neither Indira Gandhi nor Rajiv Gandhi had a university degree and yet made good, perhaps even great, prime ministers. Statesmanship is not a civil services exam and it is not necessary to go to a university to reach the pinnacle of government. Perhaps the most famous example of that is Winston Churchill. But why lie about one’s educational qualifications – or lack of them? Unless, of course, such lying is a compulsive psychological disorder.

We have just heard from our Prime Minister (yes, he is the nation’s PM for another ten days or so) that he ordered the Indian Air Force to strike at Balakot despite heavy cloud cover because while senior Air Force officers were trembling their knees pleading for postponement of the strike till the weather improved, he (Modi) thumped his 56-inch chest and saw that heavy cloud cover was actually good for the Indian Air Force because Pakistani radar would not be able to penetrate thick black clouds.

This is to insult our brave airmen and, above all, the Chief of Air Staff. Not one of them was so ignorant of the fact that radar is not a telescope whose vision can be clouded over. Radar is used precisely because, whatever the weather conditions, it can pinpoint incoming aircraft. Did Modi take his senior-most Air Force officers for fools that he could trot out such ridiculous unscientific rubbish before them? And were they so pusillanimous that they dared not correct such a vacuous Prime Minister?

This insult to our defence forces compounds another insult directed at senior officers of the Navy, who were involved in December 1987 in transporting Rajiv Gandhi, then Prime Minster of India, and his good lady from off-shore Thiruvananthapuram to the Lakshadweep islands to attend the Island Development Authority meeting. Admiral Laxminarayan Ramdas, then Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, and later Chief of Naval Staff, has gone on record certifying that only Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were on board INS Viraat when it sailed to Lakshadweep. Three other very senior Navy officers — Admirals Arun Prakash, Madanjit Singh and Vinod Pasricha- who had personal knowledge of the voyage because they were involved in the arrangements, including one who later become Chief of Naval Staff — have publicly affirmed that there were no foreigners on board the aircraft carrier.

If after four of the senior-most Naval officers have said so, does not decency demand that Modi withdraw the allegations he has made about Rajiv using the Indian Navy as a “personal taxi” to ferry “foreigners” to a holiday on one of the islands, Bangaram? How dare he cast aspersions on the patriotism of such distinguished veterans of our defence forces? Either Modi is lying or these four senior, if retired, naval officers are lying. How could two of them have been promoted to the rank of Chief of Naval Staff — the highest post that a naval officer could aspire to — if their record had been blotted by their allowing unauthorised foreigners to be on board a naval ship bristling with the latest in warfare technology?

Modi needs to be warned that he is guilty of anti-national activity in trying to ride on the sacrifices of our army and CRPF martyrs in a dirty election campaign; of defaming the Indian Air Force by portraying them as complaisant idiots in his scientific illiteracy; and the Indian Navy as being packed at its highest echelons with traitors who would acquiesce in unauthorised foreigners being allowed to board a top of the line defence vessel.

But then, why bother? Modi will, in any case, be ousted by the people of India on 23 May. That would be a fitting end to the most foul-mouthed prime minister this country has seen or is likely to see. Remember how I described him on 7 December 2017? Was I not prophetic?

  1. The comments clearly shows the kind of hate for those who have different pont of view. No one question PM when he almost declared Dr Singh anti national working with Pakistan to install Ahmed Patel as Gujarat CM. After election one could see who is CM now. It clearly shows what Modi and his party says is right, all others are boot lockers.

  2. This pro pakistani modi hater was silent for few months now released by congress and he is behaving like mad dog started biting and barking frantically ☺️☺️

  3. What can we say to a man of no consequence? I will just answer him with bullet points.
    • The author is supposed to be from the Indian administrative service. If so he should have known about Shivkar Bapuji Talpade. Since the author is right at where the action is he can go to the Times of India article and take out the report and read. That is no mythology. Or he can go to the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and see the machine himself.
    • It is hilarious to hear the talk of “scientific temper” to Hindus. Who invented zero? Who invented the infinite series? Who invented the formula for the value of sine for any angle? Who invented calculus and trigonometry? Who created the Damascus steel? The list is infinite. The sleeping man could be woken up but one is pretending?
    • All the fundamental principles of mathematics and sciences were formulated in India by Hindus whether this person of doubtful provenance believe or not.
    • As for plastic surgery, I suggest that he Google the words “farther plastic surgery”. I need a teacher who so I’ll refrain from enlightening.
    • This person, forgets for a moment about his slave masters. One went to some roadside shop to get some certificate manufactured there and call that place the Cambridge University. Another one doesn’t know which year is alleged to have got his MPhil degree. I suggest he filed the qualifications of his masters before he looks at others. For his information one who claims to be a professor (of doubtful provenance) admitted that Modi had studied for bachelors degree. Can the same be said of his family of masters? I doubt.
    • We all know the qualifications of Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi as well. Modi was not thrown out of the school for a Romp in her professor’s bed. Less said the better.
    • If mass murder, lack of morality, looting the nation are signs of statesmanship it is better not to have such statement leading the country. There is no need to point towards Godhra because now it is well established that it was Muslim congressman who burnt the train (they stand convicted) and led the riots thereafter (see the SIT report).
    • It is a servant of mass murderers were talking about honesty. As I said earlier, it is an admitted fact that Modi attended university and officially the University has said that he did secure the degree.
    • Now let me enlighten and unenlightened Iyer that what Modi said is absolutely correct. It is not for uninitiated like him to talk about Radars and their abilities. Such talk would be idiotic as has happened in this case.
    https://www.quora.com/Are-military-radars-affected-by-weather-conditions-i-e-clouds-rain-dust-etc
    • it is exactly this cloud cover that prevented the use of Crystal maze which would have provided us with video of the strike. It is because the Congress knew that Crystal maze was not used and that’s why they kept on asking for proof.
    • Congress has the habit of saying that everybody is insulted by BJP and Mr Modi. That is because they have no other point to raise. And he is exposing his name and knowledge. I remember a meeting where one of his beloved civil service Johnnies was holding on about how to do the vasectomy operation to doctors with 20 or 30 years experience and he held on till he was asked how many operations he has done. This phone is also doing the same thing with respect to Radars.
    • As for Viraat who will trust the words of leftist AAPtards with special low for Pakistan because Pakistan is their progeny’s in-laws. His wife was with Greenpeace which was banned for criminal activity in India.
    • If Mr Iyer needs to know what is insulting the forces, he should go to 1971’s and see how MO Mathai’s “she” insulted the forces that won the war for the nation by reducing their pay and rank and pension. That is an insult.
    • Mr Iyer should remember the corrupt genocidaire who sent our boys to be slaughtered in Sri Lanka. That is an insult.
    • Mr Modi restored the OROP. He is going to restore the rank parity that was also pared down by the she and her son. That is not insult but respect.
    • Mr Iyer should try his threatening elsewhere it will not work with patriotic Indians.
    • Never forget that this is the man who went to Pakistan and pleaded for help (was it in the form of terrorist activity is subject to investigation) to bring down an elected government. That is nothing short of treason.
    • Let us not start predicting, Mr Iyer. You have neither the intelligence and ability to do that. Shame on you.

  4. Mr MANI SHANKAR AIYAR last time before Gujarat elections you called PM as “Neech” , I went by your explanation which you gave along with apology that you meant something else, however, due lack of knowledge in Hindi, used some inappropriate words. Certainly I felt you have been made scapegoat by even your party. But some of my friends having deep knowledge in politics told me that Mr Aiyar is mole fixed by BJP in Congress fold. The statement by him was designed to help BJP . I strongly disagreed at that time. But reading your article at this juncture when BJP seems to be trouble, I am inclined to agree to my friend. This abusive article is to garner sympathy for BJP . i am convinced you are apart of BJP propaganda. When Congress has got such friends why it need any enemy.

  5. He is the biggest and most valuable mole implanted by Amit Shah in Congress……I really admire his timing…….. whenever BJP seems to be losing some ground……. Shah activates his most valuable weapon……..and hits bang on target……as long as BJP has such moles on their payroll, they need not worry……

  6. The neechest person in the planet is only you and nobody else. People like you don’t need enemies because you yourself will destroy the party. Abuse as much as you can but that will only benefit others.

  7. A boot licker is striving to satisfy his masters… I want my fellow citizens not to waste time responding to his senseless talks.

  8. Really?? You’re the foul mouthed parliamentarian who keeps abusing our prime minister at any given opportunity – this article including!! You have no locus standi to even mention his name- that’s the gulf in class between you and Shri Modiji.

  9. Mani Shankar Iyer you are a horrible creature in India and refuse to die even spraying deadly sprays on you. Your horrible mouth never got tired in giving bad galia to India and praising JeM chief in Kashmir. How on earth a useless person like can be in India I wonder. Do ask your parents.

  10. Mani is one of the most loathsome politicians in indian history. He and Sam Pitroda will be solely responsible for the congress debacle this time

    • Not really. Aiyer’s statement even if it does cause some electoral harm to the congress and that’s arguable because those who don’t want to vote for the BJP won’t do so anyway despite this statement. Also in case you were sleeping, this statement was made after 6 rounds of polls are already over so unless you think the evm is going to retrospectively change the votes polled in previous rounds of polls, your statement is incorrect.

  11. Mr. Mani
The most foul mouthed neta of this country
Rajiv is a chor, Sonia is a foreign national when she boarded INS virat, period remember Kalam Sir
Whether Modiji continues or not that’s people choice, but you will be punished for your arrogance

    • You call Mani foul mouthed and then promptly go on to abuse a former prime minister of the country and his wife. Irony doesn’t seem to have been introduced to you Mr Muralidharan.

  12. It seems the opposition is convinced Modi is not coming back. The heightened activity around this ‘likely’ result can only be due to the priveleged access they enjoy to the exit poll results. These gentlemen and gentlewomen should know exit polls (even all of them) can go wrong.

  13. This same gentle man went to Pakistan to have our PM removed from power. If you have courage why didn’t you fight him as candidate in the Indian election? He is far better than any fake Gandhi whom you worship for selfish motive.
Congress has used all dirty tricks against foe to win elections in the past. You have no right to bring military in the election either.

  14. When MSA writes, one can anticipate what is he going to write about. Interesting part is the last para where he calls Modi the most foul mouthed. In fact, that description fits Mani rather well. Fortunately, unlike Sam Pitroda, Mani didn’t open his mouth during the elections; otherwise Rahul would have to order him to apologise like Sam and disassociate with his comments! Useless article, much like Kumar Ketkar’s.

    • It’s likely Mr Barsode that you will like articles only if they are written in the organiser. Such are your preferences and blinkered views. To each his own.

  15. Mr. Iyer seems to be having a fairytale!!! Alice in wonderland!!! Not 23rd, he will get to know the results on 19th evening during exit Polls.

  16. It’s been 5 yrs since your epic “chaiwala cannot be PM” fiasco. Yet here you are. Not learning any lesson from that episode, and still spitting venom.
And is this the love your leader Rahul Gandhi always speaks of having towards bjp, RSS??

  17. Again this arrogant idiot has opened his mouth at the wrong time . He has given enough fodder till last phase. At this age, if you talk like this, one has to presume that he is sabotaging little chance,Rahul has.Rahul Gandhi should throw this fellow out permanently , for anti-party action.

  18. Come 23 May, Aiyar and other frustrated courtiers of the dynast, will come to know once again that their days of entitlement are gone forever.
India will be spared much buffoonery of the heir apparent.

  19. The author has spewed venom. Modi may lose election, as many, including astrologer Rajkumar Sharma, have predicted. But an incumbent PM losing election would be a normal feature in any democracy. Author’s hatred and poisonous language is totally uncalled for. In any case, he has been kicked out of the Congress for his bad mouthing. It seems that he wants a re-entry. This article is nothing but an exercise in syphocancy.

  20. Where were you Sir. We expected Gujrat type sermon from you. You appeared too late on political stage of vanishing Congress party . Ok on 23rd May please be available to express your valued comments and offer some solace to the members of the party going to disappear in next 2 to 5 years. Indian voters have repeated 2014 verdict.

    • Indian voters have most certainly not repeated the 2014 verdict Mr Arora. At the very least the BJP will require all its NDA allies and some new ones to cobble up a govt which will be a coalition govt. And that is your best case scenario.

  21. The only big mouth here is you Mr. Aiyer and also a biggest sycophant of the Gandhi family. You should run to Pakistan and stop your big claims once for all if Modi comes to power on 23rd May again

  22. The author does hold any credential to berate PM Modi on his oratorical skills, the former was gagged by Congress to prevent self goal like in the past. Congress is full of arrogance and is unlikely to cross the needed 100 seats to take a stab at government formation, it may even end up not being the principal opposition party. Tough luck Mr. Iyer, better luck next step.

  23. Sir, You have rightly attributed “Neech” word to him…. Nothing to regret about it… even under pressure.
